1. Mamdani declares victory, and Cuomo concedes, in Democratic mayoral primary
Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani declared victory in the Democratic mayoral primary Tuesday evening.
“I will be your Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City,” Mamdani told his supporters at his campaign party.
According to The Associated Press, Mamdani has the most first-choice votes so far in the Democratic mayoral primary.
Since the results for all the candidates did not top 50%, the city’s Board of Elections will go through the process of ranked-choice voting. However, Mamdani has a lead of about 7% over Cuomo with more than 90% of the vote counted, according to the AP.
The official ranked-choice voting results will not be announced until Tuesday, July 1.
