An update on the basketball career of Princeton’s own Jackie Young from August 7-10, 2025:

August 8: The Las Vegas Aces began a weekend of home games by taking on the visiting Seattle Storm. The Aces built leads of six points (23-17) and 11 points (47-36), respectively, in the opening half before eventually holding off a furious Seattle rally in the second half to emerge with an eventual four-point win, 90-86.

Powered by a 29-point and 12-rebound double-double by center A’ja Wilson and a stat-stuffing 26-point, five-rebound and five-assist game for guard Jackie Young, the Aces, along with receiving double-digit scoring games from guard Chelsea Gray (13 points), forward NaLyssa Smith (10 points) and guard Jewell Loyd (10 points), were able to fend off a hard-charging Storm squad. With the win, the Aces moved to 17-14 on the season.

August 10: The Aces capped the weekend by taking on the Connecticut Sun, and they powered past the hot-shooting East Coast-based squad due to in large part to an eye-popping double-double of 32 points and 20 rebounds from center A’ja Wilson and a 21-point, six-assist effort from guard Jackie Young en route to an eventual 94-86 win. Wilson also dished out five assists and had a pair of steals in the game.

Young, meanwhile, got out to a hot start in this one, as the Princeton native scored 12 points and had a pair of assists in the opening 10-minute segment.

The Aces found themselves trailing by four points, 31-27, after the opening quarter, a period in which the visiting Sun made six three points. Las Vegas battled back to outscore the guests in the second period, 18-14, to tie the game at 45-all as the game entered the halftime intermission.

In the first half, Young had 14 points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal.

The third quarter proved to be the difference in the game, though, as the Aces outscored the Sun by eight points, 25-17, to take a 70-62 lead into the final period of regulation. Through three quarters, Young had compiled 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal.

In a fourth quarter that saw Young cap her night with a left-elbow pull-up jumper and an assist that led to a Wilson 15-foot jumper on a baseline-out-of-bounds play, the Aces were able to maintain its lead throughout the duration of the game, and after the teams each scored 24 points in the final quarter, Las Vegas emerged with an eight-point win.

Milestones of note earned by Young in Sunday’s game included moving into third place on the Aces’ career-assists list as well as moving into fourth place on Las Vegas’ all-time list for made field goals.

With the win, their fourth in a row, the Aces moved to 18-14 on the season ahead of a home game against the New York Liberty on August 13. The game is slated to tip off at 8:30 p.m. Central, and it will air nationally on ESPN.

Following that contest, Las Vegas will travel to Arizona to take on the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, August 15. Opening tip is set for 9 p.m. Central, and the contest will air on ION.
