Two people were killed Monday night in a car crash in Chula Vista.

It happened just before 8 p.m., near the intersection of Apache Drive and Telegraph Canyon Road.

A Subaru was headed east on Telegraph Canyon Road, making a left turn onto Apache Drive, when the westbound Mustang broad-sided it, according to Chula Vista police.

Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life to cut four people out of the Subaru. Police say a man who they assume was the driver, died, along with one of his passengers. The two other passengers were hospitalized.

Police told NBC 7 the driver of the maroon Mustang, a man in his 40s, was also taken to the hospital.

No word on their conditions.

Police added no word on whether speed was a factor as they work to determine what happened.
