Six people were injured, including three kids, after several rowhomes caught fire at the 3400 block of Reach Street in Kensington on Monday.
According to police, all six people were taken to area hospitals for their injuries, with at least one adult in critical condition.
SkyForce10 was over the scene at around 6:45 p.m. and saw that the fire was put out, but fire and emergency crews still at the scene.
The Philadelphia Fire Department said fire crews were called to the scene just before 6:15 p.m., where they found a heavy fire coming from the first floor of a two-story rowhome.
The fire later spread to two neighboring rowhomes, leaving three rowhomes with severe damage, officials said.
A fourth rowhome suffered some fire damage as well, officials said.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 6:32 p.m., officials said.
Anthony Aquilino said his whole family was still inside their home as it became engulfed in flames.
“I’m trying to run here as fast as I can. I come home they don’t let me on the block. I come and I see the damage. I’m glad the dogs ok, but I see the damage and I’m just lost for words,” he said.
“We got smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. But my uncle was picking up the recycling bins and noticed it and tried to get everyone out the house,” Aquilino added. “By the time he went in the house to tell them my mom said the house is already engulfed in flames and heavy smoke.”
What caused the fire is not yet known, but Philadelphia Fire Marshalls are investigating.
“I’m thinking all types of things. I’m just glad everybody is ok,” Aquilino said. “That’s all. Thank god.”
CORRECTION: Fire officials initially said seven were injured, but have since clarified that six people were injured.
