Dallas police said they were too busy, so a Highland Park resident instead reported to HP officers that burglars broke into his truck at about 4:35 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the 6300 block of East Northwest Highway and stole a Sig Sauer P238 semi-automatic .380 caliber pistol and an ammunition bag.

A criminal cruiser stole a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 from in front of a home on Purdue Street at about 4:34 a.m.

A suspicious person was reported at CVS on Mockingbird Lane at about 12:53 a.m.
7 Thursday
A 36-year-old woman was arrested on a warrant after a traffic stop at about 1:24 a.m. on Shenandoah Avenue.
Reported at 4:40 p.m.: A sneakster stole between $750 and $2,500 worth of property from CVS in Snider Plaza.
Theft, harassment, and a past assault involving family violence were reported at about 10:36 p.m. on University Boulevard.

A pedaling pilferer stole a bicycle from a porch on Glenwick Lane at about 2:43 a.m.

Reported at 11:27 a.m. in the 4400 block of Emerson Avenue.: A 2023 Ford Bronco was burglarized.
Reported at 2:29 p.m. in The Plaza at Preston Center: A 2021 Land Rover was targeted by a burglar.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on a felony warrant at about 11:56 p.m. in the 4600 block of Westside Drive.

Officers arrested a 45-year-old man for criminal mischief at about 5:14 p.m. in the 4800 block of Lemmon Avenue.

Reported at 10:42 a.m.: A license plate plunderer stole the front plate of a 2025 Subaru Outback in Highland Park Village on Aug. 1.
A 24-year-old man was arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia and carrying a weapon without a license at about 4:12 p.m. in the 3500 block of Drexel Drive.
Reported at 4:36 p.m.: A mail marauder opened a FedEx package shipped to a resident of the 4600 block of Westside Drive while it was in transit, and stole the Rolex Daytona John Mayer watch worth $78,892 that was inside.

A 31-year-old man was arrested for driving while intoxicated and on a warrant at about 2:38 a.m. in the 4600 block of Mockingbird Lane.

Reported at 4:21 p.m.: Porch pirates who stole packages containing two Business & Pleasure Hemingway coolers, an air fryer, a wood cutting board, and a gas log set from Willowood Circle may soon feel the heat from police — they were captured on surveillance video in the act and while making their getaway.
