PHOENIX — Seven people have been displaced and a dog is dead following a west Phoenix house fire that occurred Tuesday night, authorities said.




Fire crews were dispatched to the area of 82nd Avenue and Thomas Road due to reports of a house fire around 10:30 p.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived there was heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the home.

Crews secured a water source then pulled handlines inside the house in order to extinguish the blaze.

Meanwhile, command utilized a ladder to cut a whole in the roof for ventilation.

The family was able to safely get out of the house prior to firefighters arriving on the scene. However, there was a dog found deceased in the home.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Personnel with the city’s Community Assistance Program were dispatched to help with the displaced family’s needs.
