They’ve now won 12 of their last 13 games, trimming the second-half deficit to 4 1/2 games behind Syracuse and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Highlight: Jacksonville was tied in the eighth inning on Aug. 8 when Joey Wiemer came through, belting a two-run double to spark the Jumbo Shrimp on their way to a 4-1 victory. Wiemer, claimed off waivers from the Royals organization on Aug. 4, is batting .471 with a 1.609 OPS with the club.

Crustacean sensation: Promoted a week ago from the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos, first baseman Nathan Martorella looks ready for this level. The 24-year-old from California batted .300 with a double and a triple in his first series with Jacksonville.

On deck: Norfolk, Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, is likely out of the second-half race at 16-21 and a dozen games back. The Tides’ roster includes two of the Orioles’ top five prospects in catcher/first baseman Samuel Basallo (.279/.384/.612, 23 HR, 66 RBI) and outfielder Dylan Beavers (.305/.422/.526, 18 HR, 50 RBI).
