Bend-La Pine Schools to host bus events before school starts

School starts Sept. 3, and Bend-La Pine Schools is kicking off bus safety ahead of time. Upcoming kindergartners, new bus riders and families are invited to learn the rules of riding at events Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The district is also holding a bus registration event Aug. 18 and 20.

The hour-long bus safety events will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. The events Tuesday and Wednesday will take place at the Bend-La Pine Schools Transportation Department and Thursday’s events will take place at La Pine Elementary School. A staff member who speaks Spanish will be available at all events. Refreshments will be provided.

The registration event will take place Aug. 18 from 1:30-6:30 p.m. at the Bend-La Pine Transportation Department and Aug. 20 from 1:30-6:30 p.m. at La Pine Elementary. Families will receive technical support in getting registered for the bus, as well as help with assistance with the rider app for families, called My Ride K-12. Spanish-speaking staff members will be available and refreshments will be provided.
