CHESTNUT HILL — Boston College coach Bill O’Brien announced after Tuesday’s training camp practice that Alabama transfer Dylan Lonergan would be the Eagles’ starting quarterback when the season opens against Fordham on Aug. 30 at Alumni Stadium.

Lonergan was locked in an intense battle with incumbent Bryson James throughout spring ball and through the first eight training camp sessions. O’Brien has high praise for both his field generals but thought it best to make his most difficult decision in the dog days of training camp.
