WFAA profiled Sally Maze, or “Mustang Sally” as her daughter calls her, in April after she went viral for her unfiltered takes and Texan pride.
FORT WORTH, Texas — Editor’s note: The video published above is WFAA’s report on Sally Maze from April.
Sally Maze — also known as “Mustang Sally” – is a proud Tarrant County resident.
The 91-year-old went viral for her no-holds-barred opinion about “flooty tooty” Dallas. WFAA profiled Mustang Sally back in April after her videos had garnered widespread fame.
Her Instagram page had ballooned from 1,000 followers to over 100,000. Now, it sits at 181,000.
On Tuesday night, Mustang Sally was honored as “mayor for a day” in Fort Worth, and true to form, she gaveled in the city council meeting as the honorary mayor with just as much sass as she dishes out in her social media videos.
“Hello everyone, this is Mustang Sally. Let’s get this meeting started because I have a lot of opinions,” Maze said to laughs and applause from the room.
Watch the moment below:
Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker sat next to Mustang Sally during the meeting and gave her a welcome introduction at the beginning of the meeting.
“She’s Instagram-famous and garnered over 4.3 million views on a video we are going to play here in a minute,” Parker said. “Sally’s heartfelt and humorous opinions have earned her features in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and WFAA. Today, we are honored to have her here with us. Sally, thank you so much for being an awesome, vibrant voice of our community. You’re a joy, for sure.”
