Ketel Marte has blasted game-winning home runs in the ninth-inning in back-to-back games against the Texas Rangers.
It’s something Diamondbacks fans have grown accustomed to over the last two years.
Per Baseball Almanac, Marte has rocked 13 home runs in the ninth inning since 2024. It’s the most in Major League Baseball, according to the D-backs X account.
His latest outburst in Texas is reminiscent of his outburst on July 2 and 3 when he hit ninth-inning home runs in back-to-back games against the Giants.
Marte’s nine home runs in the ninth inning last season was one away from tying the all-time record of 10 set by Tony Batista in 2000 and Justin Smoak in 2017.
While he most likely won’t get to that number this season, it’s nice to know the team has a leader who will not quit until the final out.
