SAN ANTONIO – Officials have identified the passenger killed in a fiery crash near Fort Sam Houston.

On Wednesday, the Bexar Cunty Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Seth Nolan Palacios Cruz, who died at the scene from his injuries.

The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, near the corner of Harry Wurzbach Road and Old Austin Road, not far from Fort Sam Houston.

According to police, the vehicle had been speeding away from officers during a pursuit that began in San Antonio and continued through Alamo Heights and Terrell Hills before the car crashed out.

Officers had initially attempted to stop the car for an unknown reason. The driver ultimately struck a stone pillar, triggering a fire that engulfed the car.

Fort Sam Houston police quickly responded to the scene of the crash and pulled the driver and passenger from the wreckage.

The driver was allegedly found to be intoxicated, according to the police report. The investigation is ongoing.
