At least two people have been arrested after getting into a fight with a man in Venice Beach, leaving him with serious injuries.
The altercation happened near Innes Place and Horizon Avenue Tuesday at around 8 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
When officers responded to a 911 call about the fight, they found the male victim on the ground. After the paramedics took him to a trauma center, officers had to set up a crime scene due to the seriousness of the injuries, the LAPD added.
Law enforcement sources told NBC4 Investigates that one of the assailants stomped on the victim’s head while he appeared to be unconscious.
The injured man is in a medically induced coma, according to the sources.
It was not immediately clear whether the man was homeless.
Investigators were able to track down the suspects by examining multiple surveillance videos and speaking with witnesses.
The LAPD will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for possible attempted murder charges, the sources said.
