SAN ANTONIO — The U.S. military is set to announce the creation of two new military zones along the southern border this week, with one of these zones to be established in San Antonio, according to a CNN report.
The zones, referred to as National Defense Areas, will be considered extensions of existing military installations. One zone will be attached to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, while the other will be linked to a Marine Corps air station in Yuma, Arizona.
These areas will provide troops with designated spaces to temporarily detain migrants before transferring them to law enforcement authorities.
