Wawa celebrates grand opening of Jacksonville store

  • August 15, 2025

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Crowds of people came out to celebrate a popular gas station chain’s grand opening in Onslow County.

Wawa opened its doors in Jacksonville at 8 a.m. yesterday with many residents, local and state officials, and store employees in attendance.

The gas station, located at 1079 Western Boulevard, offered plenty of festivities for all to enjoy as officials cut the red ribbon, including free t-shirts for the first 250 customers and free any-size hot coffee, which will be available until Sunday.

A ceremony for the store’s employees and a hoagie-building competition among first responders that benefited local charities were also a part of the grand opening fun.

According to a press release from Wawa, the chain hopes to continue opening locations in North Carolina, with plans to open up four more stores by the end of the year.

Wawa says they plan to build and open six to eight stores each year, with a goal to open 90 stores in the state over the next eight to ten years.

The Jacksonville store is Wawa’s fourteenth location in North Carolina.
