The Chicago Sky face the Golden State Valkyries tonight at Wintrust Arena. The Sky come with a three-game losing streak which have left them anchored to the bottom of the table. However, they will have to try to get a win without Angel Reese, who is set to miss the match as she is still recovering from a back injury.
The Sky lost their last match to Connecticut Sun, now being 8-24 in the season. Without Reese, who is officially listed as out for the contest, the team has been relying on standout Kamilla Cardoso, who posted 24 points against the Sun, but the efforts are not enough.
Reese has been out for six consecutive games since the All-Star break, and according to head coach Tyler Marsh, there’s still no timetable for her return. “It’s the back injury and she continues to be day-to-day … I think she’s progressing but still kind of wait and see,” he said recently.
On the other hand, another key absence for the Sky is Courtney Vandersloot, who will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL. Meanwhile, Ariel Atkins (leg) and Hailey Van Lith (ankle) are listed as probable for tonight’s match.

This season, Reese is averaging 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds (leading the league), 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game. In that sense, the predicted Sky’s lineup for tonight’s match includes Kia Nurse, Rachel Banham, Kamila Cardoso, Maddy Westbeld, and Rebecca Allen.

Golden State’s season
The Golden State Valkyries delivered a commanding performance on Monday, defeating the Connecticut Sun 74-57 in a game they controlled from start to finish. The win was an important boost for Golden State as they continue to push for better positioning in the Western Conference standings.
The Valkyries are without Kayla Thornton, who has been sidelined for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Despite the loss of Thornton, Golden State hold seventh place overall and sit fourth in the Western Conference. With their depth and recent form, the Valkyries are aiming to maintain their playoff push.
