People who live in Buffalo, New York call the city the “City of Good Neighbors” but is it really?

Do people just call it that to look good around people from other cities? Or is Buffalo really filled with good people who like to help their neighbors out when they can?

I’d always prefer to live my life believing that most people are good while still being real about the fact that a few just aren’t. But most people have good hearts.

There’s pride when you grew up in an area and you hear that people are good, so I thought I’d share this with you. It’s an email that was shared with me, and I thought the world should see it. It was from someone named Ana.  She wrote:

“A good neighbor story for you to share! My in-laws went to the fair to see a concert, and my mother-in-law is wheelchair-bound, and her wheelchair broke the wheel cane off at the fair! All the people there helped my dad try to fix it and look for the nut that came off to no avail! As they went to the grandstand, they were told to go to the opposite end for entry. An employee noticed the wheelchair and said, “No, we will get you in here! She then took a picture and had two mechanics at the fair fix mom’s wheelchair while my in-laws watched the show! That is absolutely amazing and a good Buffalo “City of Good Neighbors” story! Thank you to every who helped!”

Then today I saw this on TikTok from a woman who needed some people to show up for her son’s lemonade stand:

Then I found this one about a woman who moved out of the 716 and misses it now:

We see it all the time in the winter when people get snowed in and the neighborhood comes out to shovel everyone out. But it’s just so nice to see that it happens all year round here in Western New York.

Most people are good. Join them. Be a good person and see who notices.
