For PharmaRolly, a medical cannabis producer based in North Macedonia, 2025 has delivered what CEO Stephen Malloy calls their best harvest to date. “It’s the result of years of the team’s small, deliberate changes, careful genetic selection, and a season where the weather ultimately worked in our favor,” he says.

From Humboldt County to North Macedonia
The company sources its genetics from The Humboldt Seed Company in Northern, California. “The climatic conditions of Humboldt mirror those of North Macedonia, with long summers and a dry climate. We sourced these varieties years back, did a pheno hunt, and chose the best ones,” he explains. Rather than chasing high-profile names, PharmaRolly has focused on strains that perform well in their microclimate and appeal to consumer preferences across effects, aromas, and flavors.

Stephen says the season started with one of the coldest Marches in decades, but summer arrived strong, with enough sun and warmth to produce “happy plants.” “While some other European growers mentioned challenging weather patterns cut into yields and quality, our crop came through unscathed.” The company grows its cannabis in 400-liter fabric pots full of living soil. This medium is more forgiving than inert media like rockwool, Stephen explains. “It’s also the combination of that medium plus sun-grown plants that consistently delivers stronger aroma profiles.”

Post-harvest handling remains central to quality. PharmaRolly’s drying room, designed in 2020 after extensive research, allows for tight moisture control between buds before curing. “We didn’t go with an out-of-the-box system,” Stephen says. “When you buy out of the box, they tell you what you want to hear, and you never know if you ultimately get what you envisioned. We do extensive research, look at what everybody else is doing, talk to experts, and make informed decisions in building internally. We prefer to do it this way because we want to take full accountability for our processes.”

“The best harvest yet”
The company’s current catalogue ranges from a rare cantaloupe-scented sativa to a Dutch-origin hybrid with piny citrus notes, alongside mint-fragrance, garlic-cream, tropical fruit, and gassy pistachio profiles. All are grown under EU-GMP conditions, with export markets in Germany, the UK, and Switzerland requiring strict microbiological compliance.

PharmaRolly also processes purified full spectrum oil land distillate for export, with solventless extracts like live rosin under consideration for the future. Stephen sees them as a natural fit for their organic cultivation model, noting that freezing fresh flower can both speed up post-harvest timelines and preserve terpene content.

Every batch undergoes full testing for water, soil, and product, with results showing zero heavy metals, low microbiology, and high terpene and minor cannabinoid content. “That’s the result of clean inputs, strong genetics, and careful environmental control. Those have all been the pillars of this year’s standout quality.”
