Perenn opens café at Nevada Museum of Art

  • August 16, 2025

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The wildly popular Reno-based Perenn chain opened a new café on the main floor of the Nevada Museum of Art on Friday, Aug. 15.

“We are thrilled to welcome Perenn to the museum family,” said David Walker, CEO of the Nevada Museum of Art. “In this exciting time of expansion, Perenn is the perfect community partner to provide an elevated, yet welcoming experience for our visitors and museum membership.”

Tyler and Aubrey O’Laskey, a husband and wife team, bring Perenn’s signature focus on sustainability, seasonality and simple cooking to one of Reno’s most celebrated cultural destinations.

In 2018, the Culinary Institute of America graduates opened the original Perenn café in Reno’s Midtown district and then expanded to Perenn Rancharrah, Perenn Grocery, and Claio Rotisserie.

In 2025, Perenn opened locations in Franklin and Nashville, Tenn.

“We’re very honored to be opening Perenn at the Nevada Museum of Art this summer,” the O’Laskeys said in a news release. “The NMA’s heartfelt commitment to art, culture and community deeply resonates with us. We’re truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of something so meaningful.”

It will offer some of Perenn’s most beloved items, including hand-laminated croissants, fresh pastries and house-made bread, most of which are naturally leavened using traditional European techniques that promote better digestion.

There will be organic coffee, specialty lattes, and loose-leaf teas.

Menu highlights include soft scrambled eggs in a croissant with Boursin cheese, BLT on griddled country sourdough with citrus aioli, and kale salad with tahini-lemon vinaigrette.

The café was designed in collaboration with Anton Anger of Studio Meadow. It strikes a balance between artful design and everyday comfort. The space is designed to feel like an extension of the art.

In addition to tables inside the café, there will be additional seating in the atrium and on the museum’s patio.

The café will also showcase rotating art offering visitors another way to engage with Reno’s vibrant art scene.
