HOUSTON – First responders are on Highway 90 in southwest Houston after a tanker truck caught fire.

What we know:

The fire was reported on SH-90 by Fondren Road. The northbound lanes of South Main Street are open, but the southbound lanes are expected to remain closed for several hours.

Houston Fire officials tell FOX 26 that the driver of the truck has been pronounced deceased.

The tanker truck was reportedly carrying 8,800 gallons of gasoline.

Multiple fire crews are at the scene. One firefighter has been taken to a hospital for heat exhaustion.

Fire officials say no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

What we don’t know:

It’s not clear how the fire started or how long it’ll take for all lanes to reopen.
