A large black bear was caught on camera barreling through the streets of the Treviso Bay neighborhood in Naples.

The bear became a little camera shy and engaged in a high-speed chase, dodging through the sidewalks and past tennis courts, nearly outrunning our viewer, Nik Milevski who was recording.

Eventually, the bear ran into the road and came to a halt on a nearby sidewalk.

While these creatures may seem timid, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officials say you should maintain a safe distance from them.

Bear sightings become more common this time of year as bears emerge from hibernation and begin searching for food.

The FWC reminds people to keep outside garbage secured and to not leave food outside unattended for long periods, as it could attract bears to residential areas.
