A Texas DPS forensic imaging specialist released this sketch in February 2025.
WHARTON COUNTY, Texas – Human remains discovered June 18, 2021, on County Road 225 in Wharton County have been identified as 16-year-old Yeimy Maciela Beltrand.
Beltrand was reported missing to the Houston Police Department by her mother on April 30, 2021.
A forensic sketch was released in February 2025, but investigators said it was DNA from a family member that ultimately confirmed the teen’s identity. A relative submitted their DNA to the Combined DNA Index System, and the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth was able to make the match.
Authorities believe Beltrand was killed in Harris County and that her body was later dumped in Wharton County.
The Wharton County Sheriff’s Office had been working with the Texas Rangers to determine the identity of the remains. The case remains active and is now being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
