JACKSONVILLE — Palestine blanked Jacksonville 4-0 in the controlled portion of Thursday evening’s scrimmage between the two geographical rivals.

In the 10 minute live period, the Wildcats and Indians battled to a 7-7 tie.

The live segment was called with less than a minute left to play due to lightning being in the vicinity of the Tomato Bowl.

In the controlled part of the dress rehearsal, the Wildcats scored three times through the air and once by land.

Three of the Wildcats’ touchdowns covered more than 20 yards each.

The Wildcats scored on passes covering 0, 27 and 2 yards, respectively.

A Palestine running back displayed good second and third efforts in jetting into the end zone from 46 yards out.

Three Wildcat quarterbacks combined to go 8-19-1 through the air for 130 yards.

The visitors average 16.3 yards per catch.

Palestine runners netted 115 yards on the ground in 15 carries for a robust average of 7.8 yards per carry.

Defensively, Palestine held Jacksonville to 23 yards rushing in a dozen trips.

A trio of Tribe signal callers went 10-19-0 through the air for 83 yards.

In the live period, a Palestine cornerback intercepted the Indian quarterback on Jacksonville’s first play from scrimmage and ran the ball back 40 yards down the Wildcat sidelines for a touchdown.

The uncontested point after touchdown was good, giving the Wildcats a 7-0 lead.

The Indians evened things up by scoring on a 76-yard catch and run that came with about 3:00 left in the live round.

At 6:30 p.m. next Thursday, the Wildcats hosts Van in the final scrimmage of the fall.
