Metchie caught five of eight targets for 45 yards while adding 23 yards on one kickoff return in Houston’s 20-10 preseason loss to the Vikings in Week 1.
With Nico Collins and Christian Kirk both held out of the lineup, Metchie got the start and made a quick impact, catching an 18-yard strike from Davis Mills in the first quarter to help set up the Texans’ only touchdown of the day.
A 2022 second-round pick, Metchie caught 24 of 37 targets for 254 yards and one touchdown during 13 regular-season games with the Texans in 2024. He also suited up for both of Houston’s playoff games, securing six of 10 targets for 63 yards.
A start at Alabama, Metchie missed his entire rookie campaign due to illness and has since carved out a rotational role on offense with the Texans. There was an opportunity for Metchie to earn more significant opportunities on offense in 2024, with both Stefon Diggs (knee) and Tank Dell (knee) sidelined down the stretch. Metchie joins the Eagles heading into the final year of his rookie deal with Houston.
