Arsenal need to move on from Eberechi Eze and instead focus their attention on signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid.
The 2025/26 season feels definitive for Arsenal. They enter the new campaign off the back of an impressive previous term, one that saw them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League and finish second in the Premier League for a third consecutive year.
Manager Mikel Arteta has proven that he can contend for honours with the Gunners, but the Spaniard’s last major trophy lift came with the 2019/20 FA Cup. As such, many feel that this season, after a summer of further spending, needs to be one that Arsenal end with at least one piece of silverware.
To reach that target, Arteta has bolstered his squad in a number of ways. Premier League experience has been recruited in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard whilst young winger Noni Madueke has signed for the club from Chelsea. From La Liga, the Gunners have added defender Cristhian Mosquera and midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
Arsenal’s most-discussed signing to date, without doubt, has been Viktor Gyokeres. After a sensational couple of seasons with Sporting, the in-demand striker has committed his future to the Gunners, who now finally have a natural number nine within their squad who, on paper, is a reliable goalscorer.
Still seeking reinforcements for their attack, Arsenal were reportedly keen on Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who now seems bound for their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. Though the number 10 could have been a brilliant addition for the Gunners, there is perhaps someone they could sign who is better suited to their needs.
Arsenal Should Push For Rodrygo

Whilst Eze certainly possesses the ability to play for a club such as Arsenal, the England international is a natural attacking midfielder. Arteta’s side are in need of a winger and though Eze is comfortable out wide, it is not his natural position and given that is where he would’ve played at the Emirates, he may not have been consistently at his best.
Rodrygo, meanwhile, is a natural wide player and somebody who, like Eze, would undoubtedly heighten Arsenal’s capabilities in the attack. A Real Madrid player since 2019, Rodrygo has developed into one of the best wingers in the world and has won countless honours with Los Blancos.
At the Club World Cup under the management of new boss Xabi Alonso, the Brazil international struggled for minutes, sparking rumours about Rodrygo’s future. Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Rodrygo, who would be a guaranteed starter were he to sign for the team.
Rodrygo, a “world-class” operator who is just 24 years old, would not be cheap to sign, but could be exactly what Arsenal are looking for as they aim to lift a trophy once more.
