Two Redondo Beach residents were tied up by a pair of intruders who broke into their home early Sunday during a home invasion robbery, police said.
The Redondo Beach Police Department was notified of a man pointing a gun at another person in a vehicle just before 6 a.m. Sunday. The call got disconnected before the witness was able to provide a location, but officers were able to trace the phone to the 1900 block of Mathews Avenue.
There, law enforcement learned of a home invasion robbery in the area and that the suspects had taken off on foot just moments prior. Officers chased two individuals believed to be connected with the break-in and took them into custody.
According to police, the victims were tied up in their own home “for an extended period of time.” Firefighters responded to the scene and rendered medical aid to the victims, who suffered non-life threatening injuries. One of the victims was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Police identified the suspects as Jesus Velez, 31, of Rochester, New York, and Draven Luna, 21, of Queens, New York. Both face charges that include robbery, burglary and kidnapping. Bail for each suspect has been set at $100,000.
The investigation is ongoing.
