Three Fort Worth restaurants were temporarily closed for serious health violations, including multiple roaches in the eateries, according to recent inspection reports.

The reports compiled by the Star-Telegram contain violations from Aug. 3 through Aug. 9 and the results of 265 health inspections.

Fort Worth’s restaurant inspections function on a demerit system. Zero demerits is considered a perfect score. Restaurants with over 30 demerits are required to fix the worst problems immediately and remedy the rest within 48 hours.

Three food establishments were closed for serious health violations:

Rainbow Food Mart, at 1936 Mitchell Blvd, was temporarily closed after live roaches were observed in the snack bar area, along with improper cold holding temperatures and expired food handler certificates. The restaurant scored 28.

Afghan Meat Market, at 1341 E. Seminary Drive, was temporarily closed after roaches were found in the store. The health inspector also noted blood on the floor throughout the kitchen. The meat market scored 19.

Dixie House Cafe at 5401 S. Hulen St. was closed after health inspectors found multiple roaches throughout the restaurant. The cafe scored 19.

Four restaurants had high demerit scores during this cycle:

  • La Michoacana Plus, at 243 NE 28th St. Score: 29.

  • Tres Amigos Tacos & Tequila, at 909 W. Magnolia Ave., Suite 10. Score: 28. Health inspectors also observed roaches at this restaurant.

  • Los Tacos Hs, at 3025 Cleburne Road. Score: 26.

  • Y & H Stop N Save, at 2912 Vaughn Blvd. Score: 26

In addition to the Tres Amigos Tacos & Tequila, health inspectors saw roaches at several other restaurants and food establishments:

  • Mr Gyro’s, at 7674 McCart Ave. Score: 19.

  • Saltgrass Steakhouse, at 4601 Citylake Blvd. W. Score: 11.

  • La Sylvania Food Store, at 803 N. Sylvania Ave. Score: 9.

  • Smoothie King #719, at 9583 Sage Meadow Trail, Suite 501. Score: 8.
