The Alliance for a Healthier Generation has recognized nine National School District schools on its 2025 list of America’s Healthiest Schools, announced on August 6. This national award honors schools implementing evidence-based policies and practices that support the whole child’s health and academic success.

Areas of recognition for NSD schools include:

  • Strengthening Social-Emotional Health and Learning — El Toyon, Las Palmas, Olivewood, Palmer Way, Rancho de la Nación
  • Increasing Family and Community Engagement — Olivewood, Palmer Way
  • Improving Nutrition and Food Access — Olivewood
  • Supporting School Health Services — Ira Harbison, Las Palmas, Olivewood, Palmer Way, Rancho de la Nación

“We are deeply proud of our schools for earning this prestigious recognition,” said Dr. Leighangela Brady, Superintendent of National School District. “These awards highlight the dedication of our educators, staff, and community partners to ensuring students have the resources, relationships, and healthy environments they need to succeed.”

This recognition also builds on the District’s achievement as a California Green Ribbon Schools Gold Level District, awarded for excellence in sustainable practices, health, and wellness. Together, these honors reflect NSD’s ongoing commitment to creating vibrant, healthy learning environments that prepare students to be exceptionally prepared learners, innovative and compassionate world citizens.
