The entrepreneurial spirit remains alive in California and especially in Los Angeles County, at least according to Inc. Magazine’s 2025 list of 5,000 fastest growing companies.

By my count, there were 181 L.A. County-based companies that made the list, called the Inc. 5000. Counting other areas covered by the Business Journal – Thousand Oaks, Camarillo and Simi Valley – that’s another handful.

Leading the way for local companies was Maximus, a Santa Monica-based male-oriented health technology platform focusing on hormone therapies, which posted a three-year revenue growth of 7,261%. This placed it at No. 27 overall on the list.

Rounding out the top eight were Gardena-based Shipbots, an e-commerce fulfillment firm with 5,881% growth; BuildOps, a sales-as-a-service software platform for contractors based in Santa Monica, with 3,589% growth; Tax Network USA, an auditing financial services firm in Encino, with 3,338% growth; TalentCompass, a Santa Monica-based outsourced recruiting firm, with 2,936% growth; Limitless MFG, an Encino-based apparel manufacturer, with 2,803% growth; Saylor, an Echo Park-based advertising agency, with 2,757% growth; and Alias Intelligence, a Carthay-based background investigation and due diligence firm, with 2,262% growth.

Inc. Magazine evaluated independent American companies that were founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2021, with minimum revenue requirements of $100,000 in 2021 and $2 million in 2024.

LA28, the committee bringing the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games to Los Angeles, has made a big step in support of its goal to privately fund the entire event.

Casey Wasserman, chair of the LA28 committee, announced last week the naming of the Comcast Squash Center at Universal Studios and the Honda Center. These are the first venues to obtain naming rights for these Olympics, the first to have naming rights at all.

The Comcast Squash Center will host squash, itself an Olympic debut, at the Courthouse Square backlot. Meanwhile, Honda Square in Anaheim will retain its name as its hosts the volleyball competition.
