Two of the three people killed in a mass shooting at Brooklyn lounge over the weekend were gunmen, New York City police said Monday.

Two more suspected gunmen in the shooting inside the Taste of the City Lounge in Crown Heights were still on the run more than 24 hours later, the NYPD said.

Police identified Marvin St. Louis, 19, and Jamel Childs, 32, as two of four shooters who hit a total of 14 people at the lounge early Sunday morning.

Investigators said the gang-related shooting happened during a dispute.

“Mr. St. Louis approached Mr. Childs and opened fire. Mr. Childs returned fire and two other gunmen immediately joined. We believe that there were four shooters in total,” Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

Police said Childs was associated with the Folk Nation gang.

The third man killed was identified at 27-year-old Amadou Diallo, an innocent bystander from West Africa. His family said he was chasing the American dream.

“He was doing delivery, DoorDash and Uber,” Diallo’s uncle told CBS News New York through a translator. “He was just going home. He was on his bike.”

Eleven other people wounded in the chaos suffered non-life-threatening injuries, investigators said. The shooting victims’ ages range from 19 to 61.

Community leaders provide hope in face of gun violence

The Brooklyn community came together Monday night on Franklin Avenue, as grief poured onto the street where Taste of the City Lounge was still blocked by police tape.

City and religious leaders gathered with neighbors to provide comfort and hope in the face of gun violence.

“Bullets destroy and they hurt, and they hurt those we love,” said Mayor Eric Adams, who is also campaigning for reelection. “What happened in Taste of the City is not a reflection of our city.”

Anti-gun groups stepped up to provide a sense of safety.

“We have men and women whose job it is, to get on the streets, get into the trenches of where the area is to prevent the retaliation,” said Andre T. Michell-Mann, founder and CEO of Man Up! Inc.

Mitchell-Mann is also known as the city’s gun violence prevention czar.

“Gun violence in this area is down 62%,” said Camara Jackson, founder and executive director of Elite. “It makes me feel like the work that we put in is nowhere near where we need to be.”

As the NYPD continued its search for the two remaining gunmen, community leaders pled for an end to the cycle of violence that shattered the Brooklyn neighborhood.

Taste of the City Lounge released a statement on Instagram that read, in part, “The safety and well-being of our guests and community has always been our top priority. We are working closely with law enforcement.”

Adams urged anyone with information to come forward hours after the shooting.

“If you were inside the club, if you heard individuals talking about this shooting, if you witnessed someone fleeing the location. Every piece of information will allow us to put the puzzle together to solve this crime,” he said.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). You can also submit a tip via their website or via DM on Twitter, @NYPDTips. All calls are kept confidential.
