Major delays at CTA Howard stop after minor derailment on Yellow Line

00:18

Two CTA trains were evacuated Monday evening after a Yellow Line train derailed at the Howard terminal in Rogers Park.

The Chicago Transit Authority said there was a minor derailment of a Yellow Line/Skokie Swift train at Howard. The cause was unknown, and no injuries were reported.

The CTA said it coordinated with the Chicago Fire Department to escort riders from two trains safely to a nearby station platform.

At the scene, passengers — some of them wearing Cubs fan gear — were seen walking on the tracks. The Cubs, who play at Wrigley Field near the Addison Red Line stop, called off their game against the Milwaukee Brewers due to storms Monday night.

Firefighters were also seen on the tracks.

The CTA said no injuries were reported. The Red, Yellow, and Purple lines were all halted at the scene, and the CTA said it was working as quickly as possible to restore normal operations.

Shuttle buses were put into use while trains were halted.
