A new Chick-fil-A coming to Laveen will greet customers and passers-by with some type of monument at the corner of 59th Avenue and Baseline Road.
The request was made by a community group, and, with Chick-fil-A’s approval, the Phoenix Planning Commission added it as a stipulation to a zoning change earlier this month.
What type of monument is still to be determined. The commission’s stipulation included that the company must meet with the public for input. Erik Baker, a development lead for Chick-fil-A, mentioned a water tower with the company logo as one possibility. Planning Commissioner Julie Read, who was formerly the Chick-fil-A chief marketing officer in the Phoenix area, suggested a statue of the company’s mascot cows.
