In Frisco, Dallas Cowboys fans are fired up for their first up-close look at the team inside the Ford Center at The Star ahead of their regular-season opener.
Kris Klimek drove more than three hours on Tuesday, so the Oklahoma City native wasn’t about to let temperatures touching triple digits keep him from enjoying the experience.
“There’s a lot of cool food and shops nearby, pretty amazing what we’ve seen so far,” Klimek said. “But yeah, it’s super hot.”
The Dallas Cowboys held the first of two free admission practices Tuesday evening inside the air-conditioned comfort of the Ford Center.
It’s a tradition the Cowboys have held in Frisco for several years to help kick off their return to North Texas as training camp shifts from Oxnard, CA, ahead of the regular season.
Chris Brown traveled from Dallas with his younger brother Jeremiah for the first opportunity to attend a Cowboys practice.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how Dak (Prescott) is doing, make sure he’s all good and see how he’s going to look,” Brown said.
Fans waited in line outside the Ford Center in the heat, drinking water, finding shade where possible, with several fans holding umbrellas.

When doors opened at 4:30 p.m., fans could feel the cold air inside the Ford Center spill out onto the plaza as they made their way inside.
The Cowboys will hold a second open practice for fans on Wednesday, August 20, at the Ford Center in Frisco, starting at 6 p.m.
