The Yonkers Fire Department, the Yonkers Police Department, and Empress Ambulance worked together to extricate the two people in the vehicle, help those who were injured in the waiting area, and stabilize the structure.

Fire crews remained on scene for several hours to make sure the building was structurally sound while police investigated the accident. The cause of the incident remains under investigation, but PIX 11 reports that an elderly woman suffered a medical episode while in the car with her husband, causing her to drive into the building.
