Whether you’ve cheered on the Birds on the 58-foot LED television at NBC Sports Arena, been thrown from a mechanical bull at PBR Philly or dined on a slice of pizza as big as your forearm at Lorenzo and Sons Pizza, most sports fans throughout the region have celebrated in one way or another at Xfinity Live!
And now, the popular sporting dining and entertainment destination is undergoing something of a transformation.
One you may want to raise a glass to as this fall, Xfinity Live! will become Stateside Live! thanks to a new partnership with Stateside Brands, a craft distillery that was born in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood.
In a statement on the name change, Matt Quigley, President and Co-Founder of Stateside Brands said the company negotiated for the naming rights as a nod to its Philly roots and its embracement of the city’s passionate sports scene.
“If you really look at the epicenter of our growth, it is rooted in Philadelphia, but particularly Philly sports,” said Quigley said in a statement. “We built our following one sporting event at a time, over a decade of tailgates and supporting our teams. This naming rights partnership is a full-circle crowning moment, and we look forward to many more years of building upon the excitement and privilege it is to be a fan in Philadelphia.”
The brand, which was launched in 2015, has steadily grown to offer, what the company noted in a statement, one of the state’s top selling spirits. And, along with a brand of vodka, the company also produces popular Surfside iced teas and lemonades.
“Stateside is a quality brand with a deep connection to Philadelphia and a strong understanding of the market,” said Tony Monaco, VP of Operations for Live! Hospitality & Entertainment in a statement. “As we look to the future of Stateside Live! and completing our expansion, we couldn’t be more excited to bring this unique and homegrown naming rights partnership to the city and continue delivering a world-class hospitality and entertainment experience for our millions of guests each year.”
Organizers noted that the naming rights partnership “coincides with the groundbreaking of the previously announced $20 million expansion to the Live! venue.”
Plans for the expansion, organizers have said, include new open-air beer garden, a Crush bar featuring a variety of refreshing hand-squeezed Crush drinks, a significant expansion of PBR Cowboy Bar, with an outdoor backyard area featuring a stage and new bar offerings.
Organizers said there will also be a central, two-story VIP building featuring an upscale rooftop oasis added to the plaza, a new central stage for concerts and entertainment as well as an upgraded turf area that is intended to include “space for various activities and community activations and public art installations integrated throughout the plaza creating a sense of community to the upgraded space.”
The entire expansion of, what will soon be known as Stateside Live!, is anticipated to be completed in 2026.
