An employee at a Walmart in Upstate New York has been accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the store.
WHAM reports David Ashworth was arrested after his cash register was $10,047 short last Thursday at the Walmart in Victor, N.Y. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said investigators determined he removed the money during his work shift and hid a money bag with the cash inside.
Ashworth, 51, allegedly retrieved the pouch at the end of his shift, concealed it on his body, and left the store with the cash, deputies said.
WHEC reports Ashworth was arrested Monday night and charged with grand larceny in the third degree. He was released Tuesday after his arraignment and is due in Victor Town Court at a later date.
