The Texas Department of Transportation’s Brownwood District took home the Team Championship Award at the inaugural TxDOT Equipment Operator Roadeo, held August 14 in Fort Worth.
The event tested the skill and precision of equipment operators from 25 districts across the state.
Competitors faced off in events such as backhoe control, dump truck driving, skid steer maneuvering, and more.
Brownwood’s team earned the highest combined score, edging out all other districts. “We were knocking on the door to nationals,” said Calvin Milburn, Brownwood District Safety Officer.

District Engineer Greg Cedillo praised the team for showcasing both skill and safety on a competitive stage, “I am proud of how they represented our district and its safety culture against so many great competitors,” said District Engineer Greg Cedillo.
Top individual scorers from across the state will go on to represent Texas at the national competition in Kentucky later this year.
