The city of Glendale has named Djordje Pavlovic as its new engineering services director.
Pavlovic has worked for the city for more than 10 years in two key roles: structural engineer and building official.
In his new position, Pavlovic will oversee a department of nearly 40 engineering professionals responsible for the design and construction of city infrastructure, as well as many projects within the city’s $478 million Capital Improvement Plan. His duties will include coordinating engineering and architectural design projects, overseeing construction and developing cost-effective solutions.
“In all my years of service, I can’t think of a more dedicated public servant than Djordje,” City Manager Kevin Phelps said in a statement. “Time and time again, he has demonstrated that he is a solutions-oriented professional who uses creativity, without sacrificing safety, to achieve the best outcome possible.”
Pavlovic has 23 years of structural engineering design and public sector leadership experience. Before joining Glendale in 2014, he served as principal and structural engineer on residential, commercial and municipal projects.
“The successes we’ve achieved over the years are a credit to the dedicated professionals I’ve had the privilege to work alongside,” Pavlovic said. “I look forward to continuing that teamwork in my new role as director of engineering services.”
Pavlovic is certified by the Arizona Board of Technical Registration as a professional civil engineer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical and industrial engineering from the University of Belgrade and pursued graduate studies in structural engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
He will begin his new role Aug. 25.
