HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — According to Houston Public Works, a hole in the street along 453 East Anderson Road was caused by an issue with an underground wastewater line.

“We got a significant safety hazard here and not getting any better,” Stewart White, vice president of Economy Polymers and Chemicals nearby. His company relies heavily on trucks and other vehicles to deliver products.

“We have to around a different route. You can see them coming in from the other direction, which there’s a lot of residential down there. We try to keep truck traffic out of there and we just aren’t able to do that anymore,” White said.

To help keep drivers safe, his business put up cones, caution tape, and signs around the hole after reporting the issue to the city on Thursday.

“There was a car that went over it and it fell in. I don’t know where that car was or if there’s any damage,” White said.

Throughout the day, people have had to slow down, and drive around on this very busy road until it gets fixed.

According to Houston Public Works, Houston Water will secure the area with a steel plate until repairs can be completed.
