SAN ANTONIO – An iconic local restaurant is recovering after a fire broke out late Friday night.

Around 11:10 p.m. on Friday, first responders were called to the Burger Boy location on the St Mary’s Strip, near East Ashby Place, just north of Downtown.

According to investigators on scene, a fire broke out in the restaurant’s kitchen area and quickly spread to the attic.

San Antonio Fire Department firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire, preventing the fire from spreading to most of the historic building.

SafD says that the restaurant sustained “moderate damage.” It is unclear when the restaurant will reopen.

This is a developing story.
