The death of Ozzy Osbourne is still rocking the music industry weeks after his passing.
The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on July 22, a little over two weeks after his final performance. Tom Morello, who worked as the musical director on Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning farewell concert on July 5, shared his emotional thoughts about his last day on stage.

“If you have got to go — I mean, I wish Ozzy lived another 30 years — but if you’ve got to go out, it really felt like he knew,” Morello said on Chicago’s Q101 Brian & Kenzie podcast. Describing Osbourne as “one of the all-time greats,” the musician praised the Prince of Darkness for sharing his magic “one more time.”

Morello added, “It felt like a spiritually great moment for all fans of rock and roll.” Osbourne was “frail” in his last appearance, and it seemed that he “knew the end was coming.” Just 17 days after his final performance, Osbourne passed away at the age of 76.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” said an Osbourne family statement to Page Six. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.”
The legendary rocker moved from Southern California back to the U.K. in anticipation of his final years.
“Sharon had wanted to move back to England for years, especially as she got older. England was always home for them, but it became more than that,” an insider told People. “It was about creating peace and the best life possible together in their final chapter. The path back to England wasn’t easy. His health has been fragile for years. … It was a gift, because they got a year and a half together, at home.”
It wound up being the right move for the entire family. “Ozzy’s final days were spent in England, surrounded by family, music, and in the place he called home. He was in peace,” the source noted.
Still, his large presence and contribution to the music industry will be missed as his close-knit family mourns his passing.
