The Keck School of Medicine of USC Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) held its 10th Anniversary Gala June 14 at the Evans Garage Museum in San Diego.Themed “Ten Years Closer to Prevention,” the event honored the collective efforts of researchers, clinicians, volunteers, and donors who have propelled ATRI’s mission forward since its founding in 2015 and who look ahead to the next chapter in transforming the future of brain health.

Through “rigorous clinical trials, community outreach, and global partnerships, ATRI has helped usher in a new era of early detection and disease-modifying treatments for Alzheimer’s disease,” ATRI’s website states.

The event featured live jazz, fine dining, a live auction and inspiring stories. It also included emcee Carlo Cecchetto, San Diego news anchor; Special guest Kevin Nealon, Emmy-nominated comedian known for Saturday Night Live and Weeds; Dr. Paul Aisen, founding director of the ATRI, professor of neurology, and Epstein Alzheimer’s Disease Director’s chair in the USC Keck School of Medicine; Dr. Ken Davis, executive vice chairman of Mount Sinai Health Systems Boards of Trustees; and Honoree Lisa Troy Malec, a USC alum and Alzheimer’s advocate bravely living with the disease and receiving one of the first FDA-approved therapies to slow its progression, the website stated.
