Tarrant County commissioners voted Aug. 19 to cut more than 100 Election Day polling sites and reduce early voting locations for the Nov. 4 election.
The number of Election Day polls will be 216. In 2023, the county opened 331.
Tarrant County voters can cast ballots early at 33 early voting locations. That number is down from 44 in 2023. Early voting is Oct. 20-31.
Elections Administrator Clinton Ludwig told commissioners the initial list of cuts aimed to save about $1 million.
A new Texas law reduced the minimum Election Day voting locations, a rollback of a 2023 law that called for counties to increase their number of polls.
The November ballot will feature 17 proposed constitutional amendments and a special election to fill the vacant state Senate District 9 seat, which represents much of Tarrant County.
