PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Two people were rescued off of the same Phoenix trail as the Valley grapples with extreme heat this weekend.
On Saturday, around 11 a.m., Phoenix fire crews responded to Cholla Trailhead at Camelback Mountain for reports of a hiker experiencing heat-related issues. Firefighters say the woman started around 7 a.m. and became overheated while on the trek.
Firefighters opted to fly the hiker off the mountain using Phoenix Police’s Firebird 10 helicopter. Once on the ground, the woman was loaded into an ambulance and taken to a Valley hospital in stable condition.
Then on Sunday, rescue teams from Phoenix, Tempe, and Scottsdale were dispatched to the same trailhead just before 11 a.m. A woman in her 30s said she felt dizzy and couldn’t continue her descent down the mountain.
The hiker has been safely extracted off the mountain utilizing @PhoenixPolice Firebird 10.
