(KNSI) – The Stanley Cup will be in St. Cloud today.
Cathedral High School graduate Nate Schmidt raised the trophy for the first time in June when the Florida Panthers won the National Hockey League title.
Schmidt will bring the iconic cup to the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex, home to the Crusaders Hockey team. It will be on display on Monday, August 25th, from noon to 2:00 p.m. for people to take pictures and see in person.
The doors to the hockey arena will open at 11:00 a.m.
Schmidt graduated from Cathedral. He played college hockey at the University of Minnesota and broke into the NHL in 2013 with the Washington Capitals. Over his 12-year career, Schmidt has also played for the Vegas Knights, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets and the Panthers. In July, he signed a three-year deal with the Utah Mammoth.
