William Spatz’s Truman vs. Israel: Abzug and the Undressing of Truman will make its world premiere Off-Broadway at Theater at St. Clement’s beginning October 9, officially opening October 16. The limited run will continue through January 4, 2026.
Willy Falk will return to the New York stage playing President Harry S. Truman, opposite Sasha Eden as Bella Abzug, Matt Caplan, and Mark Lotito. Randy White is directing.
The work centers on the little-known political clash behind the creation of the Jewish state during the Truman administration.
“Truman is just a compelling character,” says White in a statement. “A man at the center of so many consequential decisions, and getting it from all sides. But claiming to have no regrets. So when a young Bella Abzug shows up–eager to make her mark as a young lawyer–the interrogation begins. Truman vs. Israel is like a fabulous (in all senses) and riveting first draft of history.”
Falk created the role of Chris in the original Broadway production of Miss Saigon, also appearing in Les Misérables and Marilyn. On screen, he recently appeared in And Just Like That….
