An inmate in the custody of Tarrant County Jail died at John Peter Smith Hospital on Sunday, according to a news release from the Tarrant County sheriff’s office sent on Tuesday.
The 63-year-old inmate faced a medical emergency on Friday and was found unresponsive in his cell, the release said.
“TCSO Detention staff and JPS Medical staff began lifesaving treatment,” the release said. The inmate was transported to the hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
The release said the inmate was initially arrested by the Drug Enforcement Agency in July for manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance.
