Alabama at FSU, Notre Dame at Miami take center stage in Week 1 | 2MD
UCF opens things up for the Sunshine State on Thursday night, while Florida, Florida State play Saturday and Miami on Sunday night.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have made their final roster cuts down from 90 to 53 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. Now, the team will work to fill out its 16-man practice squad.
Teams can sign any player, young or old, to the practice squad after they clear waivers, if applicable. Last year, the Jaguars held 17 players on the practice squad, including NFL International Pathway Player Louis Rees-Zammit. Rees-Zammit is no longer on the roster, however, opting to rejoin a rugby league across the pond.
For Jacksonville, the team’s practice squad will likely be a blend of new and old, with six spots eligible for veterans with any number of accrued seasons. Teams typically churn the practice squad over quickly to get ready for the start of the season, and a few players could get their names called at a moment’s notice to line up to play the following Sunday.
Our Florida Times-Union team provided live coverage throughout the day of the Jaguars’ signings. Check out everyone they signed below:
