Multiple severe thunderstorm warnings were issued Thursday night for suburban counties as strong storms in the far west suburbs moved closer to Chicago.
Just after 8:05 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Porter and Lake counties in Indiana, with warnings of 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts and damage to roofs, siding and trees.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of McHenry and Lake counties in Illinois just after 7:40 p.m., warning of 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts.

Earlier, the NWS issued a warning for parts of Kendall, Will, DeKalb, Kane and DuPage counties in the Chicago area.
That warning has since expired.
The approaching storms could bring winds of up to 60 miles per hour with the possibility of pea-sized hail as well.
Weather officials said the storm was located near far west suburban Plano just before 6:30 p.m., moving to the northeast at a speed of 20 miles per hour.
