A couple of teams fighting for playoff positioning meet for the third time this season on Tuesday, Aug. 26 when the Los Angeles Sparks host the Phoenix Mercury at crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The game is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on NBA TV. Fans looking to watch this WNBA game can do so for free by using DIRECTV, which offers a free trial. FuboTV offers up to $30 off your first month. SlingTV doesn’t offer a free trial but has promotional offers available.
The Mercury are 22-14 and fourth in the league standings, currently in position to host the New York Liberty in a potential first round matchup. They’ve won three of their last four, with all those victories coming against teams toward the bottom of the playoff picture.
The Sparks are 17-18, and enter Tuesday one game behind the Indiana Fever for the final playoff spot. The team has been off for almost a week after Kelsey Plum delivered a game-winning buzzer-beater to top the Dallas Wings, 81-80.
In two prior matchups between these squads, Phoenix won a pair of close games, taking the first meeting 89-86 in May and then taking the second, 85-80 in June. However, the last contest between the Mercury and Sparks did not feature Alyssa Thomas, Kahleah Copper, Rickea Jackson or Cameron Brink.
